Gli Affreschi Dell’Angelico A San Marco

Even though the Museum of San Marco is not exclusively characterised by the presence of the works of Fra Angelico and is an expression of various aspects of Florentine art and of the history of the Dominican Order, there is no doubt that the presence of the cycle of frescoes by the great friar-painter qualifies it as an Angelican site par excellence and transforms it into one of the most significant destinations of the early Renaissance. In fact, the cycle, due to the large number of frescoes, their specific destination and their function, represents a ”unicum” in the painting of the first half of the 15th century, not only in Florence.
