STEP FuturAbility District

The Museum
In Milan there is a place to imagine tomorrow and touch it with your own hands. STEP FuturAbility District, Milan’s “space of the future,” could only open in Piazza Olivetti, in the Porta Romana district next to Fondazione Prada, where the city changing on the push of culture and innovation is best seen.
In this technological, popularizing and experiential space, created to explore and make people understand the potential of digital transformation, all it takes is 10 steps to understand what tomorrow holds. Among dynamic installations, immersive spaces and multimedia walls, it is Forward, a virtual creature, that guides the itinerary.
Smartphone in hand, each visitor can explore a stream of information and content, interacting in real time with their surroundings, thus measuring their degree of preparedness and empathy toward new technologies.
We move from artificial intelligence to the Internet of Things, from cloud computing to 5G, to understand how these innovations are changing everyday life and are set to transform skills and professions to address the future of the world of work.
At the end of the journey, the STEP app generates a mapping of the choices that guided the guest. Everyone will receive their FuturAbility, that is, a profile of their attitude to the future and their digital skills, and the Next Steps, the steps to take to “train” for the future: courses, workshops and laboratories, organized by STEP, to learn how to live tomorrow as a protagonist.
STEP’s cultural science schedule is also enlivened by a series of free talks: check out STEP’s schedule of Sunday family events and talks.
Trivia
Just outside STEP, in Piazza Adriano Olivetti, the installation YOU ARE FUTURE signed by Studio Giò Forma is completely covered with mirrors that reflect the surroundings and those who look at it. It is a tribute to the changing Milan, but also a positive message to inspire the community: each of us, by cultivating our own potential, can become the protagonist of our own future. Tomorrow belongs to those who are able to imagine it.
